About Us

The original section of this comfortable, charming home was built in 1906 and is surrounded by magnificent trees some 100 years old. The garden has numerous areas where guests can relax, the pool or follow the babbling stream through eighty acres of natural fauna and flora.  The African thatch provides a cool haven in summer and in winter the oil heaters in each room, under floor heating in the main entertainment areas and the open fireplace make it cozy and warm.

Accommodation Options

Options of accommodation include a choice of either one of the four guest rooms - Two very spacious rooms, one above the other on the one side of the house, 'Kosmos Kamer' and 'Die Bo Kamer' and two smaller cozy rooms on the other side, also one above the other, 'Tuin Kamer' and 'Voëltjie Kamer'. Three of these are bathroom en-suite and the fourth room has a private bathroom at the foot of the stairs. All the beds have electric blankets in winter and three windows each over looking the gardens. The other option is our private cozy stone and thatch cabin - 'La Cabernon'. We have kettles and coffee / tea trays with Mara's homemade rusks, fresh fruit and sweeties in each room.

Facilities

Other facilities include laundry on request, satellite television in each room and secure parking. We share our home with our guests.  We have a communal TV room where Mara has a marvelous collection of books, magazines and games. Some of the magazines are from way back....... 1950's.

• Picnic baskets or light lunches can be arranged.

• Self catering is another option where you can enjoy your own braai using our bush kitchen next to the pool deck. Bring own briquettes and we supply all other utensils. A fridge is available there for keeping your eats and drinks cool.

• Breakfast arranged at your leisure is served on the verandah overlooking the beautiful garden. The  menu consists of traditional and health-conscious breakfasts with Mara's wonderful homemade jams and chutneys.
